Why use 10 Gigabit fiber

Fiber optics is the first choice for 10 Gigabit Ethernet applications due to its small size, large capacity, and bandwidth bandwidth. Although a single-mode fiber can meet this requirement, a laser source is required, and the cost of the corresponding optical transceiver is also very high. Ordinary multimode fiber can only meet the requirements of Gigabit or less, and cannot meet the requirements of high-speed Ethernet. After research, the industry developed a light source called VCSEL, which has better performance than traditional LED light sources. Optimized to improve 50/125 micron fiber, with VCSEL, it can support 10Gb/s of 300m distance cable trunk at 850nm wavelength, and can reach 900m when supporting Gigabit applications. The cost is not much higher than that of ordinary multimode fiber.

PROUVON fiber

PROUVON fiber is designed for use with VCSELs and is compliant with ISO/IEC11801-2nd OM-3 fiber specifications to meet the needs of 10 Gigabit Ethernet applications. There are many types of PROUVON fiber, including indoor type, indoor/outdoor versatility, insect proof type, etc. The number of cores of the fiber is from 4 cores to 48 cores. It also supports all applications based on older multimode 50/125 micron fiber, including support for LED sources and laser sources. PROUVON fiber supports the low-cost, high-performance serial transmission technology 10GBase-SR, which supports the lowest cost source of light – the 850 nm source, and the electronics that use it to transmit 10 Gigabits over distances of 300 meters or more. In addition, the transmission distance of Gigabit Ethernet using the PROVUON fiber system can be extended to 900 meters, which means that users do not have to use expensive laser devices when the distance between floors is more than 550 meters. At the same time, PROUVON fiber is compatible with existing fiber distribution frames and connection hardware, supporting traditional network technologies TokenRing, FDDI, VG AnyLAN, Ethernet, Fibre Channel, and ATM, which can be used for horizontal systems, vertical systems, and centralized fiber cabling.

PROUVON fiber optic connectors are optimized for 10 Gigabit applications and support connectors such as SC and LC and small fiber optic connectors MT-RJ. The various connectors are compatible with existing fiber distribution frames, support LightCrimp technology, and fix the fiber by mechanical crimping, eliminating the need for gluing and sanding, and can be easily and quickly installed on site. It takes only three simple steps: stripping the cable sheath, breaking the fiber and crimping it, and you can complete the entire termination process in less than a minute. The fiber optic connector can be used for fiber optic cables with buffer layers of 250 μM and 900 μM and with cables of 2.5 mm or 3 mm. And the connector's characteristic index test fully meets and exceeds the requirements of TIA/EIA-604-3. At the same time, the gray appearance is used to distinguish it from the traditional connector.
